Skylab also features an octagonal station that serves as both our hourly rental table and our training table where we provide classes and instruction on a weekly basis, covering a range of lampworking courses from beginner to advanced as well as seasonal class. Whether you are new and just curious about lampworking or a seasoned veteran needing a home to melt glass we have all of your bases covered. We offer everything from basic intro classes all the way up to weekend long classes from national renowned artists, raw borosilicate glass and lampworking materials. If you have any questions please feel free to call us any time.

Founded in 2016 by David Schuster along with a group of young glass blowers that met while attending Anoka-Ramsey Community College majoring in the Fine Arts program with an emphasis in glass art. As they progressed with their studies, the group came to the realization that it was nearly impossible to make a living doing what they loved in an industry saturated with cheap product being produced by cheaper labor overseas.

With the emergence of borosilicate lampworking, the SkyLab crew decided to shift their focus away from the antiquated practice of soft glassblowing in order to concentrate their abilities on the art of hard glass. Working out of a cramped garage taking shifts on just two torches and sharing a few small kilns, the SkyLab crew has been honing their skills and shaping their craft into something they are now excited to share with the world.
